The brainchild of Laura Cheung Wolf, LALA CURIO is all about celebrating the art of decorative storytelling. Think embroidered peacocks strutting beneath a starburst ceiling, crystal chandeliers sparkling like jewellery, and walls that look like they’ve been plucked from a silk scroll. It’s a sumptuous tribute to artisanship, a love letter to the kind of craftsmanship that takes years to master.

Cheung Wolf, who comes from three generations of decorative arts aficionados, says: “This boutique is a love letter to craftsmanship. It’s a place where tradition and fantasy meet—where centuries-old techniques come alive in modern, alluring, and utterly joyful ways”.

Now open to the public, the boutique is made up of five distinct rooms, each one more jaw-dropping than the last.

It starts with The Winter Garden, featuring a treillage ceiling wallpaper from the Lucky Charm collection that draws your eyes up to a dazzling Preciosa chandelier. The walls are a playground of cheeky monkeys frolicking among bejeweled fruits and veggies, with embroidered ginkgo leaves wrapping around the space. It’s a treasure trove of decorative delights—porcelain flowers, lacquer trays, and semi-precious stone boxes that practically beg to come home with you.

The adjacent Peacock Room is inspired by Whistler’s iconic Peacock Room, this space is pure drama. Albino peacocks with hand-embroidered feathers stand guard beneath a suede starburst ceiling, which radiates around a glimmering crystal chandelier. The walls bloom with motifs from *The Botanist* collection, while velvet textiles and hand-painted cushions add a dreamy touch. There’s even a collection of Chinese ceramics and upholstered headboards created in collaboration with Yves Delorme.

The Cabinet of Curiosities takes a dive into the deep. With its surreal Jellyfish wallpaper and resin-cast dining table that mimics ocean currents, it’s like stepping into an underwater fantasy. Surrounding the table are displays of coral, sea fans, and rock crystals, alongside artisanal tabletop accessories like beaded placemats and napkin rings. It’s a treasure trove for anyone who loves a touch of the unexpected.

The Butterfly Room is a masterpiece of embroidered vines and butterflies, each one hand-stitched and shaped for a 3D effect. This space doubles as a design library, showcasing LALA CURIO’s full wallpaper archive. Designers can roll up their sleeves at generous work surfaces and let their imaginations run wild.

The Tea Room modeled after a Japanese tea house, this serene space is all about slowing down. Sliding doors, low seating, and chinoiserie wallpaper create a calming retreat where guests can enjoy a traditional tea ceremony. It’s the perfect way to round off a journey through LALA CURIO’s world of design, storytelling, and heritage.
