Located in one of Hong Kong’s busiest intersections in Mong Kok, this 1,550-square-foot event space reflects a legacy of luxury and tradition. The venue owner is an award-winning Hong Kong jewellery designer whose father is also a renowned jeweller, as well as an avid sculptor of golden dragons.
The 1,550-square-foot multi-functional venue by FAT Design Studio Architects LTD was designed to be conducive to hosting various events — small banquets, seminars, product launch events and more, and won the KDesign Award 2022 Grand Prize. The open floor plan allows flexibility to adjust its use of space with minimal effort required, with low-level lighting that creates an intimate atmosphere and a touch of elegance.
Inspired by the magnificent golden dragons found in ancient Chinese art, segmented panels overlapping one another like dragon scales form a curved wall as if a dragon was moving through the room. The light rays from each segmented panel create crisscrosses on the floor like a multi-faceted diamond.
Curved ceiling lights that make a circle soften the sharpness of the panels at the far end of the room, where more curves come in the form of a round coffee table and sofas. Overall, the golden panels leading up to a circle focal point create an imagery of a dragon chasing after the shining pearl.
