With the weather warming up, it’s time to put away the browns, greens and greys of winter and revitalise your space with some summer shades. We took a sneak peak at London-based furniture brand Habitat’s new spring/summer 2016 collection, which features bright hues and dynamic designs in spades. Founded in the 1960s, the international brand creates contemporary furniture and home accessories with an innovative edge. The new collection was showcased at Habitat’s first ever café, Le Café Habitat, which is housed in its Hong Kong flagship store and exclusively features Habitat’s products. The preview was lead by head of design Pierre Favresse and was timed with the launch of the café’s refreshing, limited summer menu.
Using lemon as the main ingredient, the menu matches with the theme of Habitat’s new collection – heliotropism, an attraction to the sun. Boasting a vibrant colour palette dominated by lemon yellow, azure blue, ecru and navy along with unique motifs and classic stripes, Habitat’s SS2016 collection will easily brighten up your home with a touch of pizzazz for the summer.
These six items are on my personal wish list:
Citrus Cushion
This cotton cushion is the perfect playful accent with its patterns in contrasting brilliant yellow and aqua blue.
Tansy Dessert Plate
This plate’s dynamic lines draw the eye to the dessert served in the centre, ramping up your anticipation for when the delectable treat lands in your mouth.
Tallu Aluminum Table
This sleek, fresh table is in azure blue, a shade that has prevailed in this season’s colour palette and that injects an energizing vibe into the home.
Heho Stoneware Plant Pot
Plants are a great addition to liven up any corner. This plant pot, featuring a striking geometric motif, is sure to liven up your abode along with any flower or shrub you choose.
Hilario Stoneware Planter
Don’t let this planter’s simple white shade fool you – its 3D, angular surface gives it an extra edge.
Garrett Low Sideboard
Whites and wood match with almost any interior, making this piece a perfect display space for colourful collections of small sculptures and other curios.
