Finding space for large musical instruments, such as the harp, within the limited available space of your home can be the bane of every music lover's existence.

Yet, here, a couple and their baby have embraced the wife's passion for playing the harp, making it an integral part of their life at home. With meticulous attention to detail, Studio Ruei expertly reimagined the spatial layout, creating a harmonious environment where the harp's soulful melodies can reverberate throughout the warm and inviting living quarters.

The original three-bedroom layout became only two bedrooms to make space for the large instrument. One bedroom was sacrificed to create an expansive living room thoughtfully designed as a versatile, multi-functional space. A dividing wall split into an upper and lower section is placed here. The upper half are glass folding windows, separated by a half-height partition wall in the lower half. When opened, the windows create an open layout; closed, a sealed corner space suitable as a study or harp practice room.

The design of the home reflects the personalities of its inhabitants. The homeowners favour the simplicity and elegance of modern French design. The foyers' walls are clean white, and wooden parquet flooring in a herringbone pattern covers the ground. The walls and the TV wall are designed with arches, while the ceiling is adorned with floral patterns, enhancing the elegant French style.

Home Interior

The effortless elegance of the French aesthetic has long captivated many. The dining room features a rustic wooden table and chairs with charming wicker-patterned backrests. These natural materials, combined with the gentle glow of a pendant lamp overhead, create a warm and homey atmosphere.

Studio Ruei's team planned every inch carefully, strategically optimising storage capacity. For instance, complementing the lower wall cabinets, the TV wall features side-mounted display cabinet racks, augmenting overall storage capacity.

The rooms feature a simple yet elegant palette of light wood tones, cultivating an atmosphere of relaxation and tranquillity.

To infuse each element with French refinement, the kitchen and bathroom cabinetry handles, as well as the faucets and showerheads, are all crafted in gleaming gold or muted brushed gold tones, lending an air of sophisticated elegance to the space.
