Located in Almaty, Kazakhstan, this 800 sq.ft  apartment is a serene retreat designed for a young, self-sufficient woman. 

Created by architect-designer Anna Aranovich of Pinterior, the space is a carefully curated balance of calm, comfort, and functionality.   

The design brief was clear: craft an interior that reflects the owner’s composed personality while offering a much-needed escape from the relentless pace of modern life. Every detail—from the warm tones to the natural textures—was chosen to create an atmosphere of relaxation and quiet strength.   

The layout presented one of the key challenges. The owner wanted both a walk-in closet and a master bathroom, a combination that required creative thinking within the limited space. To achieve this, part of the kitchen area was reallocated, resulting in an efficient L-shaped corridor that connects the spaces seamlessly. 

The compact kitchen suits the owner’s lifestyle, as cooking is not a priority, and no space is wasted on unnecessary features.   

The materials and furnishings were selected with care, prioritising tactile comfort and natural finishes. Linen and cotton dominate the textiles, enhancing the soft, inviting atmosphere. Lighting was also meticulously planned, with a combination of technical lighting, built-in elements, and ambient options such as a reading lamp. Together, they ensure the apartment is filled with light, adapting to different moods and functions.   

While the overall palette leans towards muted, earthy tones, there is one standout feature: a bright orange cabinet in the bathroom. This unexpected addition reflects the owner’s hidden fiery nature—a reminder that beneath her calm exterior lies a spark of boldness. It’s a striking yet subtle detail that adds personality to the space without disrupting its overall harmony.
