Client Brief
The homeowner loves hosting dinners and gatherings. They wanted a home that exuded luxury, yet remained comfortable. The living room, dining area, and kitchen all needed complete functionality while maintaining generous open spaces to accommodate more guests.
Concept & Style
The overall style is fashionable and refined, favouring darker tones with clever metal accents to reflect a sophisticated taste. Materials such as marble, metal, solid wood, and glass have been used to create an elegant and understated warmth.
The staircase features metal balustrades paired with solid wood handrails, with integrated lighting to add depth. The entrance showcases a full copper laser-cut screen and a full-length mirror, blending beauty with practicality.
Challenges
The main challenge lay in the structural aspects. The entire property had persistent water leakage issues, affecting walls, the roof terrace, and exterior walls, a common structural problem in standalone houses.
Solutions
To address the old ageing and long-standing water leaks, a comprehensive waterproofing overhaul was necessary. C.M.T Interior Design’s founder Mike Chan explains: “We adopted standard construction methods, tackling the root of the problem from the structural level. Our team personally handled the entire exterior renovation, implementing a full waterproofing treatment.
“This was a meticulous process that relied heavily on the team’s skill, experience, and execution. We worked step-by-step from the outside in: repairing the structure, re-plastering, applying waterproof layers, and laying tiles. Multiple waterproof tests were conducted to ensure integrity before moving to the next stage.”
