Flowing curves and light wood define this fresh, minimalist home in North Point by Mstudio.

Client Brief
The client prioritised functionality and cohesion in the entryway, requiring a dedicated space for changing shoes, ample storage, and a clothing care system. White finishes were used to minimise the visual bulk of the storage cabinets, while light wood tones and soft blue marble accents brought warmth and character to the space.

Mstudio founder Keith Choi shared: “The client wanted the entryway to be both practical and visually seamless. By combining white surfaces with light wood and subtle blue touches, we were able to keep the space feeling fresh and balanced, without it appearing monotonous.”

Concept & Style
Curved lines are a defining feature throughout the home – from the sculpted ceiling and entryway screen to the rounded walls in the bedroom. These flowing forms create a sense of movement and cohesion. Materials such as wood textures, ribbed glass, and soft blue marble introduce warmth and refinement, balancing the minimalist design with a welcoming atmosphere.

Choi added: “The curved elements not only soften the overall aesthetic, but they also bring a sense of continuity and balance to the home. Our goal was to blend practicality with a cosy, inviting feel.”

Challenges
The primary challenge was addressing the unit’s low, eight-foot ceilings and prominent beams, which risked making the space feel heavy and confined. “With multiple beams cutting through the area, maintaining a sense of openness and elegance was critical.”

Solutions

To overcome this, the beams were wrapped in wood finishes, with soft lighting strips added to their edges. This transformed the beams into subtle design features that enhanced depth and texture without further reducing the ceiling height.

Functionality was also improved by extending the corridor from 2.2 to 3.8 metres, creating a transitional space that seamlessly integrated shoe storage, wardrobe areas, and a clothing care system. Choi explained: “This adjustment made the entryway more structured, giving the homeowner a smoother flow and better organisation in their daily life.”
