Follow a couple's arduous yet rewarding renovation journey as they tackle a dilapidated fixer-upper and redesign their powder room inspired by a designer bathroom.

The journey to turn a dilapidated fixer-upper into a magnificent abode can be arduous, but almost always worth the effort. Such was the case when a couple purchased their new home in July, and quickly realized that most of the house required renovation due to significant water damage. Starting with the kitchen, a shared upstairs bathroom, and their children's room, they moved in as soon as they finished to continue with the rest of the house. Finally, the family turned their attention to the powder room, which they planned to redesign while sticking to their budget.

The couple recognized the importance of maintaining the original layout of the powder room, but it required a significant amount of work to smooth out the walls that had been damaged. After two grueling weeks, they finally painted the walls with a striking green shade named Beta Fish by Behr. They were inspired by a designer bathroom they saw in Haneen's Haven's online portfolio, which featured wainscoting and green tones that spoke to the couple's maximalist sensibilities.

Once the walls were painted and smooth, they chose shoe trim from Home Depot to create the wainscoting. With a gorgeous wallpaper that expertly highlighted their chosen green tone, the couple carried on with their remarkable renovation project. The powder room's fixtures and decorations were carefully chosen to complement the green color scheme – gold toilet paper holders from Amazon, a chic light fixture sourced from Lowe's, a Wayfair sink, an ornate tissue holder, and a Hobby Lobby mirror were installed. To give the room that personal touch, they hung artwork featuring their beloved pets, Archie and Radley from Bem Bem prints on Etsy, using frames that they purchased from Hobby Lobby.

This 20.25 square foot powder room now stands as a stunning example of a maximalist, green-themed bathroom that expertly incorporates various disparate elements. It is yet another testament to the great things that can be achieved through careful planning, working within a budget, and creativity.
