This year, Home Journal launched its inaugural Top 50 issue, showcasing 50 outstanding interior designers in Hong Kong. To mark the occasion, a Home Journal Top 50 Cocktail Soirée was hosted at the stylish The Chelsea in Sheung Wan, bringing together prominent Hong Kong designers for an engaging panel discussion and networking session.

Home Journal had the honour of hosting a conversation between two renowned experts in architecture and interior design in Hong Kong - Steve Leung and Raymond Fung. Our guest host, Karr Yip, the founder of ADO and former chairman of HKDA, led the talk discussing "Design and the Future: The Philosophy of a Successful Designer".

Steve Leung shared his thoughts on how designers can maintain stability in their careers. He advised, "Designers should identify their personal strengths and weaknesses and pursue work that they're passionate about". He further emphasised, "As a design company, we shouldn't limit ourselves to a single style. Despite being known for modern simplicity, I embrace various styles because it's more important to have an attitude that enables creativity and innovation."

Raymond Fung highlighted the importance of having a positive and patient disposition in the field of design. He emphasised, "EQ is crucial. No matter the challenges we face, we should always communicate effectively and patiently to help others understand and accept our design concepts. It's important to love our city. When we genuinely care about Hong Kong and design with the intention of benefiting the public, we naturally garner support from others."
