This lineup of homewares doubles as works of art.
To celebrate the 45th anniversary of Home Journal, we unveiled a remarkable commemorative exhibition featuring 10 extraordinary furniture pieces that brilliantly showcase the fusion of design and art.
These meticulously chosen exhibits not only highlight outstanding craftsmanship and aesthetic beauty, but also reveal the design inspiration and profound thought behind each creation.
1. Little PI

Characterised by its asymmetric eye design and sleek body curves, "Little PI", embodies interior designer Jay Leung's profound love for his daughter, who was born with vision in only one eye. Beyond a personal story, it symbolises resilience, celebrating individuals living with physical imperfections. Their challenges do not define them; instead, their strength and potential shine as brightly as any other.
The name "Little PI" is inspired by the idea of "Perfect Imperfection"—a celebration of beauty and strength emerging through life’s trials. While marginalised groups often face barriers such as prejudice and limited access to resources, art becomes a universal language, fostering empathy, respect, and understanding.
Through art, individuals with unique abilities can express their creativity, share their inner worlds, and inspire appreciation for their contributions. "Little PI" reminds us that even with physical imperfections, brilliance and charm can illuminate the world.
Leung plans to expand the "Little PI" collection, with proceeds supporting initiatives for individuals with visual impairments and other marginalised communities. This reflects his commitment to inclusivity, advocacy, and the transformative power of art.

9. Bosch's Lady Plus 45

In 1987, a team of engineers at Bosch unveiled a groundbreaking innovation at Domotechnica: the world’s first 45 cm dishwasher, the Lady Plus 45. Rooted in German craftsmanship, this compact appliance was meticulously designed to fit seamlessly into small kitchens while delivering impressive performance. Its significance lay not only in its technological features but also in its ability to adapt to changing societal needs, reflecting Bosch's commitment to efficiency and quality.
One major challenge for consumers was the issue of wet plastic dishes after the wash cycle. To address this, Bosch introduced DesertDry+ Zeolith® technology in 2008. This silicate absorbs moisture from the dishwasher’s interior, eliminating the cloud of steam that typically escapes when the door is opened. With Zeolith-equipped dishwashers, users can place plastic dishes directly into the cupboard without the hassle of hand-drying.
10. PULP Table and Hubba Armchairs

The PULP collection marks the first collaboration between Catalan designer Eugeni Quitllet and Roche Bobois: a collection of tables, chairs, and armchairs with a biomorphic aesthetic that eschews straight lines, complemented by refined finishes.
Inspired by the living world, the collection is based on the dissociation of elements: the designer envisioned each piece as a cluster of molecules. The cocktail tables and end tables feature round or softly rounded triangular tops and are available in two sizes and heights, with finishes in lacquer or wood.
Also featured in the set are the Hubba armchairs, envisioned by Ukrainian designer Andrii Kovalskyi. The chairs' elegantly uncluttered design and boldly rounded shapes seemingly draped in a single piece of fabric. The accompanying ossicle-shaped footstool enhances the experience of comfort while adding a playful dimension.
