Conran and Partners' new work blends contemporary design with industrial heritage, offering what the firm calls "a home in the clouds".

Conran and Partners has unveiled a sophisticated two-bedroom show apartment at The Founding, British Land's landmark residential development in London's Canada Water. Situated on the 15th floor of the 35-storey tower, the abode showcases the design firm's vision for modern dockside living.

Dubbed The Sky Gallery, the apartment is part of the first phase of the ambitious Canada Water Masterplan. It features carefully curated artworks from British Land's private collection, including pieces by Ian Davenport and David Hockney.

"For The Sky Gallery show suite, we have imagined how a high-profile creative would live at The Founding," said Simon Kincaid, partner at Conran and Partners. "The design is aspirational and romantic, with soft layers of contemporary furniture and fabrics leaving space for the vast London views and providing a backdrop for a curated art collection."

Exposed concrete ceilings nod to the area's industrial past, while soft lighting and warm paint tones create a welcoming atmosphere. Kincaid notes: "The refined design and styling of the residence complements the industrial flair and warehouse references of Allies and Morrison's architecture."

In the open-plan living space, dark-veneered kitchen cabinets anchor the room. Iconic furniture pieces, such as the Zig Zag chair by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, sit alongside sculptural elements like the Brutus Stool, inspired by traditional Japanese woodworking.

The bedrooms adopt a pared-back aesthetic, incorporating natural textures that reference Canada Water's timber trade history. Japanese paper lamps and wooden rugs add warmth and character to these spaces.

The Founding, set to complete this summer, is part of the 53-acre Canada Water masterplan. Designed by Allies and Morrison, the development features 186 apartments and extensive communal amenities, including a double-height lobby with a striking iron spiral staircase.

Kincaid adds: "For the design of the full scheme, with its 186 apartments, lobby and collection of amenity spaces that will complete later this year, we wanted to reconnect with Canada Water's abundance of green spaces and waterways as well as its industrial past."
