Nespresso Launches Sustainability Pop-Up in Elements

The global coffee giant has long taken various eco-friendly steps since the start of its business, from recycling capsules to facilitating sustainable farming practices to minimise impact on climate change. From August 4-11, the brand will take it a step further by shining a spotlight on capsule recycling and the benefits of responsible consumption with a pop-up at Elements themed “The Capsule Journey”.

Collected aluminium capsules for recycling

Launched alongside a new bike collection Re:Cycle made from recycled aluminium coffee capsules in collaboration with Swedish lifestyle bicycle brand, Vélosophy, the first-of-its-kind pop-up features three zones to showcase the full circles of life of the coffee cherry and aluminium capsule. Green elements are also beautifully incorporated into the space, which is decorated with 264 mini herb plants, of which the pots are 100% natural made using food waste and recycled Nespresso coffee grounds. Over 120,000 crushed recycled aluminium capsules have been also been turned into a beautiful art installation sure to delight visitors.

Bicycle Thieves at Para Site

Held at Para Site, one of the oldest and most active independent art institutions in Asia, this group exhibition that runs until the end of the month is curated by writer and curator Hanlu Zhang.

Diverse works from 16 artists including Andrew Norman Wilson, Chang Yuchen and Firenze Lai will be on show. These pieces explore the fine line between sharing and stealing, highlighting the precarious status of the individual in relation to the increasingly complex institutions and systems in contemporary society.

SCAD Hong Kong Students Reimagine Mooncakes for The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong

Wanted to up your mooncake game this year? These creative original designs by students at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) are sure to impress.

The second collaboration between The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong and SCAD students participating in the SCADpro program saw 21 students across illustration, sequential art, and advertising and branding participating in the design challenge. The winning creations? Two special edition mooncake boxes that drew inspiration from the significance of family reunions during the Mid-Autumn Festival as well as from mythology: the love story of Hou Yi and Chang E.

Women + Ink | China + Hong Kong

Female artists continue to make great strides within the realm of contemporary Chinese art as Alisan Fine Arts presents a group exhibition featuring works of six emerging women artists – three from China and Hong Kong respectively.

These works span from quietly sophisticated gongbi paintings by Zhang Yirong to magnified fruit and flower works by Chu Chu and experimental ink works by Hui Hoi-kiu and Ling Pui-sze, all presenting a beautifully modern and expressive take on the traditional ink medium.
