The Japanese philosophy and aesthetics of wabi-sabi celebrates transience, the lack of artificiality and the beauty of imperfection.

With so much happening in the world, people are seeking refuge in a space that’s anything but chaotic. It’s no wonder that the wabi-sabi design philosophy remains prevalent in 2022. In interior design, the wabi-sabi style translates to naturally stylish furniture and home accessories that conjure up a calm, soothing space to keep whoever is living in it grounded.

Wabi-sabi is just a design aesthetic, it’s a way of life centred on the beauty of imperfection and transience. Deeply rooted in Zen Buddhism, the term refers to the simple and non-materialistic, embracing all things imperfect and impermanent and recognising these qualities as the natural cycle of life.

Indeed, wabi-sabi can be woven into all facets of our lives, and encourages us to take a moment to slow down from our fast-paced world, be in tune with nature and accept  imperfections.
