Global colour authority Pantone has spoken! In a time-honoured tradition, the renowned brand has just revealed that the much-anticipated colour of 2023 is – drum roll, please – Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta.

In a press statement, Pantone describes the vibrant berry-infused red colour as "a nuanced crimson red tone that presents a balance between warm and cool." The hybrid colour is meant to be a new signal of strength and evocative of a more hopeful future ahead.

In this age of technology, we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real,” Pantone’s Executive Director Leatrrice Eiseman further explains. “Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family, and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known.
