Welcome to My Neighbourhood, a recurring series where we present micro-guides to neighbourhoods worthy of being explored, both in Hong Kong and abroad. We speak to the people that call these areas home – whether designers, boutique owners, or restaurateurs – for insider info on where to go, shop, and eat. We kick off the series with the picks of interior designer Irene Capriz, who outlines her favourite spots in Wong Chuk Hang where her design showroom Casa Capriz is based.

A rarity in Hong Kong, Spring Workshop is a fantastic multi-discipline space used for art exhibitions, cultural events and artist residencies. As one of the first starters here in the neighbourhood, it’s a point of reference for the whole community in Wong Chuk Hang.

This is where I always end up eating, not only because it’s so conveniently located in my building, but because the food is consistently good and Chef Cosimo has a natural talent at making you feel at home. DineArt is a space that charmingly combines an art gallery and a private kitchen. While they are open mainly for private events, you can still pre-order your take-away lunch. (Not that many people know about this!)

If you need to revamp your house, there’s nothing more efficient than adding or changing rugs. Head to the 9th floor of One Island South where you will find yourself in textiles paradise. Driven by the immensely creative couple Janis Provisor and Brad Davis, all of Fort Street Studio’s hand-knotted creations could almost be hang on the walls as pieces of art.

CuoreThis is a loft that reflects the passions of Andrea Oschetti, a private chef and modern day adventurer. Andrea’s dinners are more than a simple meal – you might get to hear about his latest solitary trips in Alaska and Namibia or enjoy a classical music performance. Whatever it might be, I always leave his events with both my belly and mind filled with memorable experiences.

Angry Lane

A great spot for anything motorcycle related. They not only customise motorcycles, but they also design and sell their own line of crafted accessories. They are open by appointment only so it’s best to send them an email beforehand.
