Silk no longer has to be relegated to the vintage looks in your wardrobe and nothing else. Silk is coveted in the world of haute couture, if the runways this spring are anything to go by – they were filled with silk slip dresses from the likes of Balenciaga and Burberry Porsum to Calvin Klein and Givenchy.

If you’re looking to jazz up your wardrobe or home with some silk accessories, these brands have got you covered.

Cléo Ferin Mercury
Founded by the eponymous French designer Cléo Ferin Mercury, the London-based independent label specializes in silk accessories with the aim to update traditional silk scarves for a contemporary audience. Her signature animal-themed scarves are glamourous while staying completely animal-friendly. Tie one to your bag or wear it as a loose cravat around your neck to top off an outfit. Cléo now produces two collections per year and has extended her range to detachable collars and pocket squares.

Hermès
Sweep into Hermès and you’ll find a wide variety of silk accessories, from pocket squares to ties to shawls. Founded in 1837 as a harness workshop, Hermès debuted its first scarf a century later. Since then over 2,000 detailed designs have been commissioned from artists across the globe, with 20 new designs being rolled out every year. Creating a printing screen for an average scarf with 30 colours takes anywhere from 400-600 hours, and that’s excluding designing, cutting and sewing. The complex production process results in scarves with an unquestionably elegant aesthetic.
