From timeless stocking stuffers to the gift of food, here are some convenient ideas to make gift shopping more pleasurable this month.

Christmas is my favourite time of year, and while it’s often considered a season of excess, I feel there are many ways to keep things simple and meaningful. That applies to my approach to gift-giving as well – and my only hope is that those on my list find my choice of presents tasteful yet practical.

New Punjab Club

I recently dined for the first time at Black Sheep Restaurants’ New Punjab Club and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. With exquisite food by chef Palash Mitra (formerly of the Michelin-starred Gymkhana in London) and a beautiful, intimate setting to boot, this Indian eatery is one I’ll be going back to at least one more time this season. Sending over a meal from any the group’s restaurants makes for a unique surprise for someone on your list as well—and it’s fairly easy to do via their app. Food, after all, is one of life’s great gifts.

Aesop

Something one can never have too much of is Aesop’s range of personal care, and this Christmas various gift kits are available from the Australian luxury skincare brand. The Orbit of Intention kit, for instance, contains facial hydrating masque, facial hydrosol, and exfoliant paste; the Familiar Horizon kit contains the brand’s beloved Resurrection Aromatique hand wash and hand balm.

Wine from Berry Bros. & Rudd

Quality wine is an easy gift if there ever was one, and it doesn’t hurt to keep more than a few bottles for your own household so that you have something to bring to all the gatherings you’re sure to be invited to over the course of the holidays. Berry Bros. & Rudd has a fantastic selection that runs the gamut from affordable to high-end, and they offer local delivery to HK Island, Kowloon, and New Territories Mondays through Saturdays for free on orders over HKD1,500.

BoConcept

It’s a great opportunity to stock up on tasteful gifts this season with BoConcept’s 3 for 2 promo. Purchase three selected items, and get the least expensive for free—it’s an ingenious, painless way to get your Christmas gift shopping done more efficiently. As winter is coming, my picks include throws (available in various fabrics and colour ways) as well as woven baskets that make for stylish storage solutions. Alternatively, you could use them as laundry baskets or planters, too, so they’re quite versatile.

Louis Vuitton

An exquisite stocking stuffer this season, Louis Vuitton’s collection of candles are crafted by master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrund, and come in four scents contained in lovely, matte white ceramic tubs. I personally gravitate toward citrusy scents, and my pick of the bunch is the Île Blanche perfumed candle composed of fresh tea notes blended with orange, jasmine sambac, essence of neroli and cardamom, and citronella and vervain.
