The Ambassadors Ball is the most influential annual event in town within the art and design community and enthusiastically supported by prominent design luminaries, creative influencers and society icons. The net proceeds of this fundraising gala will benefit Design Trust – an initiative of the Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design that support its mission to encourage creative ventures and nurture the development of design and innovation. This year’s gala will be held at The Kerry Hotel tomorrow evening, Saturday 14th October, and to mark its tenth anniversary, it’s aptly themed 科水 – Decade Past, Decade Forward.

On this year’s theme, Marisa Yiu, the co-founder and executive director of Design Trust says, 科水 – is to fundraise for the future prosperity of Design Trust. This year marks the 10th anniversary of The Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design and we will continue our dedication to advocating for the positive values of design to shape the society we live in for the next decades to come.

Marisa also shares the exciting lineup of the evening’s programme, where there will be a unique water-related performance and interactive installations. Of course, the fun-filled auctions are always a highlight, where among the incredible auction lots, some of the most anticipated ones are creations from this year’s creative directors Andre Fu and Andonian Chan, along with creative directors from previous years such as Douglas Young, Stanley Wong, Vivienne Tam and Alan Chan. Continues Marisa, We are so fortunate to have donations of special experiences and limited editions from world renowned and award winning architect and designers; Rem Koolhaas, Zaha Hadid, David Adjaye, Tom Dixon, Thomas Heatherwick, among many others.

A pair of Aluminium Ming Chairs by Neri&Hu

ESTIMATE: HK$40,000-$60,000

Designers Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu merge the past and the present with the deepest respect for tradition, creating a crisp and contemporary style.
 The Ming Collection looks fresh and combines an eclectic mix of Asian decorative art and western functionality - this sensuous chair made from aluminium promises to be the jewel of any environment.

DING by Stickyline (2017): 

ESTIMATE: HK$40,000-60,000

Ding, is a Chinese ancient vessel used for dining. To echo the theme of Design Trust's 10th Annual Dinner, Stickyline played with mathematical principles, then deconstructed and reconstructed the Ding to create this artwork. It contains every drop of water to be shared with all creative artists. Together we support the Hong Kong creative industry. Ding it!

A Made to Measure Neon Plaid Printed Velour Asymmetric Gown by Vivienne Tam:

ESTIMATE: HK$30,000-$50,000

Vivienne Tam is an international fashion designer known for effortlessly blending her cultural roots with a modern design vocabulary recognised for its artistry. Adding this asymmetric custom fit gown to your wardrobe will guarantee it's one of the chicest in town.

A Terrazzo Table by Joyce Wang (2017): 

ESTIMATE HK$30,000-$50,000

This speckled black and white terrazzo pedestal table with brass fins inlays is a work of art. It is designed to use at home, in the office or commercial spaces as an accent table, adding an edge to any arena.

Lasvit's TAC/TILE table lamp by Andre Fu:

ESTIMATE HK$50,000-$70,000

TAC/TILE was inspired by the 1932 Maison de Verre (House of glass), Czech metropolitan passageways with Chinese tiled roof and modernist glass blocks. The purist triangular pro le became the core adapted into a spectrum of applications – from table lamps and floor lamps to suspended pendants. For this special auction Andre and Lasvit prepared a unique edition of Tac/Tile table lamp in polished brass finish which is simply gorgeous.
