As integral as clubhouses are within larger residential complexes, few go as far as to cocoon residents from the world outside.
New World Development, whose portfolio of residences includes Artisan House and Mount Pavilia, has decided to go this extra mile for their North Point property, Fleur Pavilia.
Commissioning the late luminary Japanese designer Shigeru Uchida and his team at Uchida Design Inc., along with landscape architects Ohtori Consultants, New World has fashioned a serene complex within the residences, a space almost portal-like in its juxtaposition against the gritty Mount Kai Yuen area of North Point, transporting busy dwellers between the demands of the day and their respite back home.
The clubhouse, called Fleur Pavilion, features a motif of bright wood and bamboo and a lustrous white palette, with details reflective of the Japanese chashitsu (tea house) that inspired its design, from washi paper surfaces and perforated screen dividers to ikebana arrangements. Here, residents are privy to a reading room, a venue for private events, swimming pools, as well as a dedicated board game room, all furnished with custom-made furniture by Uchida Design.
Also part of the clubhouse is Fleur Island, a landscaped garden replete with a waterfall and mini pond that receives natural light through a circular opening in the upper floor level.
