Luscious textiles and evocative prints are the soul of a space – as illustrated by the designer's decadent new pieces that brim with joie de vivre

Instantly recognisable, her exuberant and lushly layered interiors are found in top residential, hospitality and retail spaces across the globe. Now, American designer Kelly Wearstler has captured that same joie de vivre and translated it into her stunning fifth fabric collaboration with renowned British textile house Lee Jofa.

Titled Kelly Wearstler V and encompassing an assortment of prints, weaves, embroideries and wallcoverings, the collection is a full-on visual feast with influences and aesthetics as varied as the dynamic creations themselves.

“This collection crosses over many different genres, eras and mediums,” says Kelly, who drew inspiration from everything from vintage fashion to historical references, art and design when designing the eight fabric and five wallcovering designs, crafted in an array of earthy, sophisticated colourways.

They include the painterly printed fabric District, inspired by cubism and evoking casual decadence through oversized geometric shapes; the Cascadia cotton-linen blend, arousing senses of an undulating mountainscape and inspired by original hand-painted artwork; and Arcade, a linear pattern made of bold stripes and stacked geometric forms woven with exclusive Italian cotton-blend chenille yarns. Kelly’s own iconic hand-painted pattern, Graffito, has been reimagined with four new colourways to lend furnishings and walls a rich, multifaceted touch.

“The collection plays with dimensionality, depth of field, organic quality and earthy sensibilities,” sums up Kelly. “There are so many different qualities to experiment with and create a distinctive dialogue.”
