Awards season might be coming to an end with the Academy Awards – but like many movie fanatics, we’re still pretty much immersed in the glamorous moments captured as stars and guests arrived on the red carpet in sparkling ensembles. Celebrate some of this year’s best looks and let them inspire you at home.

THE SOFT SIDE

If you think coral tones are purely for the ladies, think again. Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman opted for a Givenchy suit with Christian Louboutin boots and David Yurman jewellery as he charmed at Vanity Fair Oscar Party. As the 2019 Pantone Colour prevails in both the fashion and beauty fields, why not bring the life-affirming shade into your most sacred area? Take cues from this Stockholm apartment designed by multi-disciplinary design studio Note and brighten up an odd corner with accent pieces in the animating palette — be it a chair, a cushion cover, or a feature wall. Weave muted and pale shades like moss green and pale yellow to balance the contrast.

LA VIE EN ROSE

As in the case of Chadwick Boseman, a little dose of femininity goes a long way. Instead of sticking with typical black-tie rules, Aquaman’s Jason Momoa and wife Lisa Bonet turned heads in coordinating outfits. Designed by the late icon Karl Lagerfeld, the couple’s Fendi ensembles take blush pink to a whole new level. And long before the power couple stunned in the tranquil hue, Hong Kong-based interior design firm hoo applied the alluring shade into a Jardine’s Lookout home in Hong Kong. Founder YC Chen realised a mid-century inspired retreat for a cosmopolitan lady in her 60s, We added a lot of French elements throughout the house to make it more feminine. We wanted it to feel vintage and modern at the same time. Gubi’s velvet Beetle dining chairs, the Living Divani sofa in muted greys and the floral wallpaper in the bathroom make for a romantic ambience.

SHAPING IT

Inspiration comes in all shapes and forms – and it was evident in one of the best-dressed muses of the night. Jennifer Lopez’s strapless Zuhair Murad gown featured sequins in various somber tones resembling a sparkly peacock – thanks to the feathered accent across the bodice. Entrepreneur Sara Jane Ho selected an equally striking pendant for the living area in her Shanghai residence. Its free-flowing, sculptural silhouette informs the aesthetic directions of the space without overwhelming the interiors. The setting is further enhanced through dramatic shades and golden accents meticulously scattered around the abode. My home is truly a reflection of myself. It’s a work in progress, too. I’m always tweaking and playing with and rotating my art, because my personality changes and my mood changes as I enter different stages of my life or different seasons. There’s a little bit of old, a little bit of new,” Sara muses.

THE GOLDEN TOUCH

Dazzling in a black Alexander McQueen number and a 128.54-carat Tiffany diamond necklace that has only been worn thrice in its 142-year existence, Lady Gaga exuded old Hollywood charm from head to toe. Channel retro Gaga at home through a restrained colour palette accentuated by a Midas touch. This Parisian dwelling retained much of the property’s old soul as the design duo furnished it with vintage picks and their own refined custom-made pieces. Materials, colours, composition, furnishings and details, electrical sockets and handles – everything has been orchestrated with balance, favouring dark woods, different types of marble and a palette of greys, as well as brass and a strategic use of mirrors. As the creatives fondly share, Preserving historical elements has been our undisputed priority, because the past is always a great source of inspiration for us… we didn’t want a contemporary apartment, but a classic one with panache.

SUBTLE GLOW

Best Actress winner Olivia Coleman’s Prada dress is a meticulous study on modern sophistication. The custom gown weaves a dark palette with bows to celebrate contemporary embellishment and drapery. With emerald being chosen as the principle hue, an understated touch of slate grey fabric softens the shimmer and glitter. Architect and interior decorator Luigi Fragola’s home in Florence perfectly showcases how to capture the subtle glamorous look for a space. Doesn’t Eichholtz’s Chandelier Tivoli L hung above the dining table remind you of the glittering accents adorning her grey silk cape? And the slate teal walls we are all coveting…
