Since its inception in 2008, homegrown brand Loveramics has become an integral part of the fabric of Hong Kong’s food-focused culture.

Its distinctive dinnerware graces the tables of some of the city’s hottest restaurants and is found everywhere from Cathay Pacific’s First and Business Class lounges to award-winning chef May Chow’s Little Bao, not to mention in countless homes across the territory.

Founded by William Lee, the brand was born from a desire to create covetable, contemporary and design-led tableware – a concept that is reflected in Loveramics’ 15,000-sq-ft Wan Chai showroom and office. Refreshed by local firm Bugs Design Consultants in the spring of 2017, the expansive, two-storey space encompasses both public and private areas, the former of which play host to an extensive library of vibrantly hued ceramic creations, a coffee station, art works and Nordic-inspired appointments.

Clean lines dominate the interior aesthetic, with rough concrete beams and exposed pipework lending an industrial edge to proceedings. As you enter, the upper level celebrates Loveramics’ hero products and current collections, like the timeless Er-go! System and the dip-dyed Sancai assemblage, so named because it draws on traditional craft techniques from the Tang Dynasty.
Positioned above the staircase leading down to a generous common area is a gallery wall, which gives insight into the history of Loveramics and the company it emerged from, Lynns Concepts, a ceramics manufacturer established by William’s grandfather more than 50 years ago.

Original shop signs and black and white photographs of the factories and production processes intermingle with lifestyle shots of some of Loveramics’ most successful creations, visually weaving the brand’s narrative. The old and new pictures displayed together on the wall remind us who we are, explains Lee.

Downstairs, appointments come courtesy of Ziinlife, a furniture brand that echoes Loveramics’ core values of simplicity, functionality and beauty, while fusing a Scandinavian approach with traditional Eastern silhouettes. A kitchen island occupies one end of the enormous space, acting as a point of convergence for employees throughout the day as they unite over coffee and conversation (and later, wine, if the whimsical quote on the window is any indication). Indeed, the entire split-level office-showroom has been conceived to not only present Loveramics’ wares in their best light, but also to create an atmosphere conducive to creativity and community, without which the brand wouldn’t have become the household name that it is.

Loveramics‘s headquarters is at 77 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai. Its third and newest boutique is located in Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts, 10 Hollywood Road, Central.
