In only two years since Pici opened, the team behind the Star Street restaurant has brought their handmade pasta to three more locations.

Helmed by chef Andrea Viglione from Turin, Pici has become a quick favourite among foodie circles on the Island and beyond for their home-inspired Italian fare.

The restaurant famously takes no reservations and is known for queues that crowd neighbouring blocks – long waits that prove worth it, if the restaurant’s swift expansion is any indication. First with locations in Wan Chai and Central, the restaurant last year branched out to Tsim Sha Tsui and, not long after, to Sha Tin.

In that time, head chef Andrea has been getting to know his new home of Hong Kong. The self-taught chef has cooked in restaurants around Turin from the age of 16, specialising in cuisine from the Piedmont region. For a time he opened his own restaurant, which also operated as a book store, until the draw of opportunity in Hong Kong came calling.

With Pici’s latest turf in the New Territories district of Sha Tin, chef Andrea generously shares his favourite spots around the neighbourhood. Read on through the gallery below.

"I particularly like the Peking duck from this restaurant and it’s always entertaining to watch the chefs in action through the lively open kitchen."
