There are beautiful spaces for humans, and there are beautiful home accessories for our pets.
Then there’s animal-inspired design taken to a whole new level.
Pet-tecture: Design for Pets by Phaidon gathers striking adobes that stun with beauty and thoughtfulness – although, unlike many of the human homes we’ve seen to date, these structures are dedicated solely to animals.
The works of architects and designers from around the world feature in this tome, a collection of more than 200 designs by the likes of Nendo, Shigeru Ban, Sou Fujimoto, Kenya Hara, MAD Architects, and even Ikea. The designs run the gamut from a salvaged metal roost for birds, to nesting spaces for bees; 3D-printed fish tanks to luxury chicken coops.
In addition to a description of each design next to beautiful photography, the book includes pet-themed quotes throughout the pages, as well as a listing of stores that stock the items featured.
Here’s a look at some of the most beautiful homes ever designed for pets, from the pages of Pet-tecture: Design for Pets.
