The castle was completed in 1904 by distinguished federal politician Henry Willis – who was a founding member of Australia’s first parliament. Willis named the castle, Innisfallen Castle, after a ruined abbey in Killarney, Ireland. The home stayed within the Willis family for three generations before being sold in 1988 to the current owner, lawyer and former Olympic water polo champion Peter Montgomery, who is the castle’s second owner in 117 years.

The home boasts a lavish sandstone build and looks over the blue waters of Middle Harbour and 360 views of Sydney. It features a grand entrance, high ornate ceilings, formal and informal living rooms with galley kitchen, enormous bedrooms and a tennis court.

There are currently two existing buildings: the castle itself, and separate accommodation ideal as either a guest wing or domestic staff living quarters. DA approved plans from acclaimed architects Fender Katsalidis allow for a third building to be built with home cinema, 20m swimming pool, gym, championship tennis court, wine cellar creating an overall seven-bedroom stately home.
