One Prospect Park West in Brooklyn unveils a new model residence designed by design firm Colony.
Dubbed “Chroma”, each room in the model residence embodies a specific colour and its corresponding historical, emotional and psychological response. Take the red living room: deep maroon accents, hand-blown amber glass and natural terracotta evoke a subtle yet growing internal energy.
The yellow tertiary bedroom, on the other hand, elicits elevated spirits and joy and reflects the historical undertones of the building built in the 1920s. There’s also a green primary bedroom using earthy forms and highly textured accents to imbue calm despite its colour-filled design.
“We dreamt up the concept of CHROMA for an ill-fated group show right before the pandemic. I am hopelessly intrigued by the idea of colour as a psychological and emotional tool, combining the physical plane with a psycho-emotional response,” says Jean Lin, founder of Colony.
